I was only supposed to be a struggling essayist.

I was only supposed to be a struggling essayist.

Instead, I stumbled into this work.

My first gig after college was making minimum wage at a TJ Maxx in suburban Detroit. My second gig after college was a $10/hour internship at an ad agency. That second gig turned into my third—a print coordinator role—which turned into a junior copywriter role. And then I moved to NYC.

What started as a way to make a little bit more money turned into a full career across multiple industries, three agencies, two in-house roles, and one out-of-state move.

14 years later, here we are.

SiriusXM Media

9/2022–present

As the B2B Messaging and Copy Lead, my role ranges from chief proofreader, to tone and voice specialist, to copy and creative lead, to brand and product expert for all our B2B touchpoints on behalf of the sales arm of SiriusXM. Our team is responsible for over $655M in revenue influence (in 2025 alone) to an advertising community of over 200K people across marketing, agency, holding company, and brand roles. Prior to my employment with SiriusXM Media, there was no tone and voice doc for the brand—so I jumped on the opportunity to create one.

Projects include but are not limited to: upfront presentations, lead gen campaigns, sizzle script writing, sales comms, gated marketing reports with accompanying nurture campaigns, lead flow nurture emails, and social copy. Luckily, I also get to lead and direct two contract copywriters to help with the myriad asks every week.

8/2021–8/2022

Served as the Copywriter for projects on the internal, employee-focused Creative & Strategy team; collaborated with creative team members across disciplines to develop creative strategies and marketing ideas that fulfill client briefs and goals.

Praytell Agency

1/2016–5/2021

In my five years at Praytell, I grew from a Copywriter, to Senior Copywriter, to the Copy Director, where I built and nurtured large-scale creative campaigns in web and social media (paid ads, evergreen content, video campaigns) as well as PR (bylines, press releases) spheres with account and strategy leads for clients like Under Armour, No Kid Hungry, Zappos, Anheuser-Busch and Norton Gaming. Most important, I finally got to build and nurture my own copy team—what I’m most proud of at the end of the day.

6/2015–1/2016

Hired in as an Associate Copywriter, I wrote mailer copy for credit card applications as part of the Capital One direct mail team.

9/2012–5/2015

As a Junior Copywriter, I wrote print (ads, collateral, mailers, elevator clings, posters), static and animated OLA, email blasts, web copy integrating SEO, radio network scripts for statewide broadcast for multiple towns, and talent and television scripts for clients like Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Greektown Casino and Chrysler.

In my first role with the company as a Print Coordinator, I routed deliverables between departments, including but not limited to: print ads, banners, invitations and collateral, broadcast scripts and video, digital web banners and emails.
